Obama Greet the President of Ghana on 8 March
United
States President Barack Obama will hold talks with Ghanaian President,
John Atta Mills in the Oval Office on March 8, said the White House on
Thursday.The two leaders "will discuss the
common goals of development, in the areas of commercial and economic
relations between the two countries," said White House spokesman Jay
Carney, in a statement.Since assuming
office in January 2009, Obama (who was born in the United States from
his father who is a citizen of Kenya, as well as his mother who was a
citizen of American whites) just one time visited sub-Saharan Africa,
namely to Ghana in July 2009.
The White
House says, that Obama welcomes the opportunity to reply to a warm
welcome from the Government of Ghana, as he and the first lady were
welcomed during a visit to Ghana.
In Accra
in July 2009, Obama (who was the first President of the United States
white-skinned) urges Africa to strengthen governance, as well as
promising aid from Americans to cope with outbreaks of the disease in
Ghana.
